The raspberry is the edible fruit of a multitude of plant species in the subgenus Idaeobatus of the genus Rubus. The name originally referred to the European species Rubus idaeus (with red fruit) still used as its standard English name. Our area is dominated by Willamette brand of rasperries. Rasberry juice is the most expensive type of refreshing drinks making this type of fruit very valuable.
